Hiking The Sawtooth Mountain in JAPAN (日本語字幕)
Jan 10, 2020
In this video from Robby's trip to Japan in 2019, Robby and his friend Darrell took a ferry to Chiba Prefecture (just south of Tokyo across the bay) to see Mt. Nokogiri (also known as Nokogiriyama or 鋸山), translated roughly as the sawtooth mountain. This mountain used to be a rock quarry in the Edo period (roughly 1603 to 1868), but now is a popular hiking destination. The remnants of the stone quarry were a really cool sight, but there were a ton of other interesting Japanese landmarks including the hyaku-shaku kannon (a giant relief statue), the nihonji temple daibutsu (a giant buddha statu), and jigoku nozoki (hell lookout). After climbing up the mountain, you can take a cable car back to the bottom.
